Jumping Out Of Airplanes
I thought I would scream.
I was too scared to utter a peep.
I had just crawled out of a perfectly good airplane a mile above the Earth. I was standing on the wheel of the tiny dragonfly, the wind whipping me at 80 miles per hour. The instructor was leaning out of the airplane’s door grinning at me. His face reminded me of Death.
Thumbs up.

I let go of the wheel. Just like I had been told in practice. The sky spun. Fear permeated my cell membranes.
A jerk. A tug. The tether…it worked. I looked up to see a magnificent chute. Glorious. The ride down was breathtaking. Memorable.
There comes a moment in your business when some grinning fool is going to give you a thumbs up.
Let go.
Just like in practice.
Enjoy the ride. You earned it. That’s why we jump out of planes. That’s why we start enterprises.
We just ain’t quite right in the head.
